PDO & PCL Threads

Do you want to look younger and more rejuvenated? You may be interested in PDO & PCL Threads.

Thread lifts work to lightly lift the facial features, which results in tightened and contoured facial skin, leaving you with a much younger appearance. The skin will appear smoother, firmer and tighter, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, lines and jowls.

There are numerous different types of thread lifts, including Polydioxanone (PDO) and Polycaprolactone (PCL).

PDO is the type of material that is used for the facial lift and is used for minimally invasive thread lifts. There are three textures of PDO sutures: mono, cog and screw threads. What texture thread is used will depend on how much lifting is required and your desired end result. The PDO threads dissolve over about six months.

PCL is a newer option and involves using material that is used for long-lasting absorbable sutures. PCL threads stimulate two types of collagen, as well as hyaluronic acid, giving better support to the face. This procedure is not as commonly requested as PDO, but is more requested with people looking for long-lasting results. The PCL threads will dissolve after around 18 months.

Benefits

There are numerous benefits to undertaking PDO & PCL Threads.

You will be able to enjoy the results of more youthful-looking skin without having to undergo an invasive surgical procedure. PDO triggers the production of collagen, which will leave your skin looking rejuvenated.

PDO threads will be able to improve the appearance of pores and fine wrinkles. It will also be able to increase the thickness of the papillary dermis.

Due to the granulation tissues in the area of the PDO thread treatment, the procedure can help to contour and shape the face. You will have an improved definition of the jaw, plumper cheeks, better facial contours, fewer lines and wrinkles and an improved skin tone. Best of all, PDO threads give natural-looking results, as opposed to a facelift, which can often look artificial.

As this is not a surgical procedure, you will enjoy much faster recovery periods. PDO threads are also a much more economical option when compared to surgical procedures such as a facelift. Those who have more than minimal sagging skin may not be an appropriate candidate for this procedure and may be more suitable for a facelift. Make sure to consult your doctor prior to the procedure to ensure you are an appropriate candidate.

What to Expect

The length of the procedure will vary depending on the treatment area. Your appointment may take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

Prior to the procedure beginning, your skin will be marked, noting where the injections will take place. This area of the skin will then be anesthetised. The PDO threads will be attached to a long cannula, which will then be pushed through the tissue beneath the skin. There will be a predetermined point to which the cannula will be inserted to. When it reaches this point, the thread is released and the cannula is removed. This process is repeated until the desired result is achieved. The number of threads that need to be inserted will vary from person to person, depending on the skin laxity and the treatment area. Each area can require between one to five threads.

Once inserted under the skin, the PDO threads will stimulate the collagen and produce a lift in the skin.

You should be able to see noticeable results within two to four weeks. You will be able to notice smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin.

Following the treatment, you can expect to return to your usual physical activities within one week.

How long the results will last varies depending on the patient’s metabolism; generally, results will last for two years or more.
