Botox Injections

Botox injections can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in the face, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.

Botox uses a toxin known as onobotulinumtoxinA. Botox was the first drug to use botulinum toxin, and as such botox is the name you most commonly hear when referring to anti-aging injections.

The injections temporarily stop the muscle from moving, which prevents the appearance of wrinkles.

Benefits

There are numerous benefits to having botox injections. Botox will help to treat:

  • Brow lift
  • Jaw Slimming
  • Crows Feet lines
  • Forehead creases
  • Gummy Smile Treatment
  • Smoking lines
  • Excessive Sweating

What to Expect

Botox is a non-surgical procedure that will be completed in a number of minutes.

Your practitioner will use a small needle which will be injected into the desired area. Most people do not feel discomfort during this procedure. To reduce any discomfort, your practitioner may use a topical anesthetic or ice.

You will notice the effects of the botox injections around 7 to 14 days after the procedure.

We recommend that you avoid alcohol for at least one week prior to having the injections, and avoid any anti-inflammatory medications two weeks prior. You may also need to stop taking any blood thinners prior to the injections. If you are taking any of these medications, discuss the injections with your doctor.

Following the procedure, you should avoid touching the area where you received the botox injections. This will help to prevent the botox from moving to another area. We also recommend avoiding exercise for 24 hours following the injections.

How long the botox injections will last will vary from person to person. Typically, the effects will last three to six months. You will notice that muscle action will slowly return, which will cause line and wrinkles to reappear. This will become less severe over time as the muscles shrink.
